The Dragon's Breath

Photography has been a passion of mine since the first time I experienced a print forming in a tray of colorless liquid under the dim glow of a safe light. I was hooked at that moment, and have never looked back in my pursuit of a career in the field. A lot has changed since that first print, both in life, and in the technology of our medium. One thing has never changed, my desire to use photography, in its many forms, to create something that can be both beautiful, and meaningful.

I enjoy the experimental nature of photography, and strive to be open to new experiences in the medium. It?s never important to me how an image was created; all I care about is the end result. I use the method of creating images that best suits the ideas I am trying to express. The cameras I shoot with may be as a simple as a Pinhole or Holga, or as refined as a view camera. In the end I follow the path that is best suited to the concept.

Moab's Somerset Enhanced Velvet is the paper I used to print the images in the series shown. I wanted a natural rag paper with a textured surface that would not compete with my image. Moab's Somerset Enhanced Velvet was a great choice, providing me a nice surface with good reproduction of my black and white photographs.

I am also a full time educator in photography at the Art Institute of Colorado where I specialize in printing processes. Many students have fell in love with Moab's papers for a variety of work from fine art to commercial. We have had great results using the Moab paper line for exhibition printing and bookmaking projects.
