My work relies on the unexpected affects that the ink makes as it stains heavily water-saturated paper and the slow drying process.? As a result, reticulations develop as well as lines and unanticipated natural effects.? Then over this, I will create the work with line drawings, sketches and smaller areas using watercolor techniques.? This interaction between the acrylic based ink and BFK paper chemistry (sizing) makes for an intriguing story in my work.? The ?Blue Road? is literally a wet string which slows the drying in that area increasing the affects.? My work, etchings, paintings, and books, have always been founded on the exploration of ideas, spiritual and scientific, in image.? Art, especially books, is a way to understand and record the world, its natural wonder and our place within it.?
