For just under 1500 years, Japan has been producing handmade paper in a volume and variety that is second to none. Washi is the Japanese term for paper produced in the traditional manner. This exciting decorative paper is handmade in Portugal of thin layers of natural cork laminated to a coated, colored base paper. Corkskin is used for end papers, book covers as well as for many decorative purposes. It makes an interesting surface for silkscreening and rubber stamping.
