'Red Onion' (30cm x 38cm) is on Stonehenge paper, using Derwent Coloursoft pencils. I use Stonehenge paper as it is the best I have found for coloured pencil work, by far. It seems to have a huge capacity for the pencils, and takes everything I throw at it with no apparent damage. All of my work is now done on this paper. The picture itself is an exercise in colour and composition, which was completed mostly during an art festival over four days in a marquee in June - hot enough to almost melt the pencils! The onions were drawn from a selection of six that I had, and then a very limited palette of pencils was used. The result has been good for me, winning awards in two National competitions.
