Appassionata in F minor
Paper: Stonehenge 250gsm White
Stonehenge Paper is my favorite surface for my colored pencil paintings. It is smooth enough for perfect blending and fine details but at the same time it accepts many layers of colors. It is practically indestructible and therefore perfect for burnishing and mixing colors on my Heated Drawing Board. It warms up and cools down very quickly so that I can switch between warm and cold techniques with no delays. I also like that it is archival and reasonably priced. I have used it exclusively for the last two years and have been very satisfied with it.
'Appassionata in F Minor' (14.5" x 10") won first place in The Artist's Magazine's 2007 All-Media Online Competition/Graphite, Charcoal and Colored Pencil Category and was featured in the July/August 2007 issue of the magazine. It also placed first in the the San Diego Colored Pencil Society District Chapter's 2007 Exhibition at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
