The cedar, proud and tall by Jeannine Cook

Jeannine Cook
The cedar, proud and tall
Paper: Stonehenge 250gsm White

I have been using Stonehenge paper since the early 1980s. Every time I begin a drawing, in pen and ink or in graphite, for instance, I feel a thrill. That first contact of pen or pencil to the paper's surface is magical. The responsiveness of the paper allows for a marvelous dialogue; delicacy of mark, exactitude or sfumato effects are all easy to achieve.

That excitement of creation has carried me to many an exhibition and collection, both public and private. Through the natural selection process, my experiences in the art world enrich and inform my life. In the same way, choosing Stonehenge paper leads me to fun and challenges in art-making.

My main media are silverpoint, graphite and pen and ink, complemented by watercolour. I frequently use my art to advocate on behalf of my adoptive coastal world's environment. Using Stonehenge paper, an environmentally friendly, archival product, seems very appropriate when one seeks to celebrate our fragile world.
