Phytolacca Americana, Pokeweed by Kathie K. Miranda

Kathie K. Miranda
Phytolacca Americana, Pokeweed
Paper: Stonehenge 250gsm White & Cream

My precise botanical work involves the time-honored tradition of glazing to build rich, vibrant layers of color. I use Stonehenge white or cream exclusively for all dry media applications including colored pencil, pastel and graphite. Stonehenge provides a superior surface for the delicate veils of color and tone I require yet has an amazing capacity to accept multiple layers. The tactile quality of the paper is the real test for excellence: an ultra-smooth lay-down on a flawless surface which allows me to focus on creativity. Since my college days, Stonehenge has maintained the consistent quality I rely on as well as the confidence to recommend it to my students.

Kathie Miranda is an artist and educator of natural science illustration, specializing in botanical art. Ms. Miranda is a long-time member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, Greater New York Chapter where she has served on the Board of Directors for 9 years.
