Paper: Stonehenge 250gsm White
There is something almost magical about creating art on a sheet of fine art paper. The paper is not just a surface for art; it becomes part of the art. Its texture and feel, which is as unique as a fingerprint, melds with the image to create subtle impressions and mood. Watching an image emerge from its blank surface is part of the delight I experience from drawing and painting. The paper I come back to time and again is Stonehenge. This paper is the best for creating a "painterly" texture with colored pencils and is also an ideal choice for mixed media (watercolor/colored pencil/ink). It is a tough, workable paper with a smooth, velvet-like surface. The surface is illusory, however, because, while smooth, it has a deep "tooth", capable of taking layer upon layer of medium. I used this paper for "Beautiful Swimmers", which won the top award in the 2006 International Exhibition of the Colored Pencil Society of America.
