Kinwashi

Description

Kinwashi is as classic a Japanese art paper as there is. It looks delicate but is strong enough to hold up under strenuous printmaking techiniques.

Kinwashi has been used for decades in the US for a wide variety of printing and traditional printmaking applications, as well as beautiful shoji screens and lampshades. It has a crisp feel yet is very workable to use from the novice art student all the way up to the most experienced of printmakers.

It is made with pure manila hemp fibers which are set randomly in either a natural or white colored base paper. The sheets and rolls have a subtle translucent quality that comes to life when lit from behind.

Both the Kinwashi White and Natural have carried over quite easily to the architectural design world. They are often used in the manufacture of the most amazing lampshades and screens found in the finest homes, restaurants and offices.
