Ukigumo
Description
Ukigumo is another of the Japanese lace papers that are so desired in modern designs.
This paper was produced for many years in Japan, however it wasn’t until the late 1990’s that we began importing it to the States and it quickly became a designers dream.
Ukigumo features an irregular swirl pattern and is especially soft, owing to its composition of 70% rayon and 30% sulphite. It is made by a process of water being forced through a specially designed patterned screen. The base paper is extremely soft and lightweight with a silk like feel, yet maintaining its strength.
It can be used for decorative envelope linings, collage work, invitation and greeting card layers, as well as wraps for elegant packaging projects. Many colors of Ukigumo are available upon special order.
